Description
We ordered MDF boards from TOSIZE.fr for two projects: a custom bookcase for the living room and a subwoofer cabinet for our home cinema.
The bookcase combines push-to-open doors with solid oak shelves — the perfect solution for keeping the living room neat and tidy.
The other project is a subwoofer for a home cinema.
Get creative with MDF!
The bookcase is constructed from MDF Natural that is 12 mm thick. The cabinet is divided into different segments (such as the bottom, side walls and spacers), so that each part is easy to build, mill and paint.
The transitions between the segments feature a slight bevel, creating a subtle interplay of lines and a beautiful depth effect.
The oak shelves (purchased elsewhere) are supported by wooden dowels that are invisibly incorporated into the cabinet.
The doors are recessed and equipped with a push-to-open system, eliminating the need for handles and giving the whole unit a sleek, modern look.
Next to the cabinet, a subwoofer cabinet has also been built from the same MDF, specially designed for the home cinema — sturdy, low-resonance and fully customised.
The dimensions of the project
- Bookcase: 250.0 × 188.0 × 44.0 cm (h × w × d)
- Subwoofer: 70.0 × 55.0 × 80.0 cm (h × w × d)
