In this DIY project, Maarten shows how he made a children's desk and playhouse himself. For this fun job he ordered custom MDF panels. Read more about his approach and experience below.

Description by Maarten

Playhouse made of MDF boards and back wall made of OSB board. Bookshelves made of MDF wood (cuttings). Lamp made of iron cord with socket with pull switch. I.v.m. safety opted for a plastic lamp bulb (2 W). Side walls at the top miter sawn, 45 degrees as well as the roof plates above and below. The gabled roof has an angle of 90 degrees. The back wall disappears into the house. Double desk with two partitions to create three extra storage compartments. The whole thing is glued and screwed. House primed twice and then lacquered in three layers.

h3>How I made this project

First step was to connect side walls to the desktop (wood glue and screws) and then place the back wall between the walls and against the desktop. Then attached the roof. Screw holes were filled with MDF filler and the end edges were also treated with MDF filler so that they would have a less absorbent effect. Only after everything had been painted was the bottom plate of the desk attached, otherwise the inside of the desk top (the three storage compartments) could no longer be painted.
