Description by Marloes

Marloes (Studio Yoisho) has given her workspace a makeover and created a desk from 30mm thick raw MDF that hangs floating between two walls. The total length is over 340.0 cm, so she ordered the desk in two parts and then assembled them together. She took care of the finishing herself by using concrete plaster. The result is a super sleek desk with plenty of workspace! Below is more about the process.

How I Made This Project

Marloes opted for a desk that is 346.5 cm wide and 55.0 cm deep. She intentionally chose a slightly less deep desk because the space is not very large, and she only needs to work with a laptop. For finishing, she chose a 2mm chamfer to eliminate sharp edges on the wood. To install the desk, she first made a wooden frame securely attached to the wall so that the desktop could rest firmly on it. Then she screwed the desktop onto the frame and filled the holes with foam filler. Marloes chose concrete plaster as the final finish, which she also applied to the walls and ceiling. And what a beautiful result it turned out to be! Learn more about her approach on her own blog.
